More About Us

Who We Serve

2016 statistics show that we served an average of 1565 families (or 4166 people) per month. 14.5% were over 65, 39.3% were under 18, and 54.3% were 18 to 65. We distributed 3,284,833 pounds of food which corresponds to approximately three million meals. The total cost of food distribution was $93,319.

A recent survey of those obtaining food from the Food Pantry indicated that the patrons appreciate the wonderful, friendly volunteers, the ability to select what they want instead of having food selected for them, and the generous allowances.

A general donation for purchasing food and general/administrative expenses is always a welcome gift. Please make checks payable to VCFP and send to Verona Community Food Pantry, P.O. Box 187, Verona, VA 24482.

 More Ways To Give

If you live in the Staunton/Augusta/Waynesboro area of Virginia, we would welcome you as a volunteer. We need 20 volunteers every day we are open. If you are interested in volunteering, please call Cecil Wright at 540-430-2844.

In Verona, turn east off of Route 11 at the light, towards the Government Center onto Dick Huff Lane. Go straight back, past the Government Center on the right, to the orange cones. Bear left just before the orange cones and go all the way around to the back of the building on your left. There are small signs that say "Food Pantry". You will find a small door in the north side of the building with a ramp leading to it!

Please remember, as you exit, to use the drive by the cones because Social Services has requested that Food Pantry Patrons not cut across their lot.

What Do New Patrons Need?

You will need a photo ID as well as something showing your local address. It may be an electric bill, an envelope addressed to your home, or a government ID, etc. These rules are required by the Federal Government, who support us by donating a goodly portion of our food, so we must abide by them. You will need to fill out sheets saying what income and benefits you and your family receive. Only one person per address per month can receive food.

New Hours effective August 14, 2017

  • Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 8:30 am to 10:45 am
  • Tuesday 4:30 pm to 5:45 pm

Food recipients must arrive by quarter till the hour in order to have time to collect their food.
